The stage is officially set for another thrilling edition of the SJ Odi-Olowo Chairman's Cup Season 6, following the conclusion of the official draws that mapped out the route to glory for all participating teams across five competitive categories.
Organized under the leadership of the Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Dr. Seyi Jakande, the annual grassroots football tournament continues to grow in stature, attracting clubs from across Lagos State and beyond while serving as one of Nigeria's leading youth football development platforms.
This year's competition will feature 50 teams, over 800 players, 100 coaches, and approximately 120 matches, all to be played at the Jide Sanwo-Olu Arena between Monday, July 27 and Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
The organizers have once again demonstrated their commitment to grassroots football by increasing the total prize money over the years. The tournament prize fund has grown from ₦2.5 million in Season Three, to ₦3.5 million in Season Four, before reaching ₦5.5 million in Season Five, underlining the competition's steady growth and impact.
Beyond prize money, the SJ Odi-Olowo Chairman's Cup has become a genuine pathway for young footballers seeking opportunities at higher levels.
Several players discovered through previous editions have gone on to achieve remarkable milestones in Nigerian football.
Among them are Esther Sunday (Unification FC), Ebube Jessica (Heartland Queens), Timileyin Agbonjimi (Ablaze FC), Toheebat Niniola (AOA) and Jane of Nasarawa Amazons, who all earned recognition after featuring in the competition.
The tournament has also produced players who have represented various states at the National Sports Festival, while others have secured contracts with clubs competing in the Nigeria National League (NNL), Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO), NWFL Championship and the NWFL Premiership.
Its international impact is equally impressive. Six players from previous editions recently featured at the prestigious Gothia World Youth Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden, while five others are currently competing at the renowned Dana Cup in Denmark, highlighting the tournament's growing international relevance.
The SJ Odi-Olowo Chairman's Cup continues to expand beyond Lagos, attracting clubs from neighbouring states.
This season, Future Stars FC of Ibafo and Lakeside Queens of Ikenne are among the clubs travelling into Lagos to compete.
