Nigeria U-20 women’s head coach, Moses Aduku, has expressed strong confidence in his team’s readiness and mentality ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifying clash against Senegal.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, the Falconets’ handler assured that the team is fully prepared, focused, and mentally ready to deliver a convincing performance.
“The girls are prepared for the game. We have worked very hard, from Abuja to Ibadan, and now here (Abeokuta). The camp has been bubbling, the players are fit, sharp, and ready to go.”
The coach highlighted the positive atmosphere within the camp, describing the squad as eager and hungry for success.
“The players are ready. The mentality in the camp is very strong. They are just waiting for tomorrow to come,” he added.
Aduku stressed that the Falconets approach every match with a winning mindset, regardless of the occasion.
“It’s a winning mentality. Every game we play, we play to win. Even friendly matches, we treat them like a cup final. Tomorrow will not be an exception.”
While acknowledging that the tie is played over two legs, the coach made it clear that Nigeria is targeting more than just a narrow victory.
“We are going all out to make sure we win. Not just to win, but to win well,” he said. “We know this is not the final game, but we want to put ourselves in a very good position.”
The Falconets face Senegal in the first leg of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier, with the return leg expected to decide who advances to the next round of the African qualification series.
