“Goals, Shock Wins & Giants Falling: NWFL Matchday Six Goes Completely Wild!”

The 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership continued to gather momentum on Matchday Six, with goals raining across centres, title contenders making bold statements, and mid-table battles beginning to take clearer shape. From Ibadan to Abuja, the round of fixtures delivered a blend of efficiency, surprises, and tactical dominance that underlined the growing competitiveness of the league.

In Ibadan, Ekiti Queens secured a confident 2–0 away win over Pacesetter Queens. Goals from Zainab Ismail (24’) and Winifred Eyebhoria (84’) sealed a professional performance, rewarding Ekiti’s composure and improved organisation on the road.

Another emphatic away display came in Lagos, where Confluence Queens stunned Dannaz Ladies with a 3–0 victory. Blessing Sunday opened the scoring before Seember Emmanuel took control with a brace, including a late strike that capped a dominant second-half showing. The result underlined Confluence Queens’ growing confidence and attacking efficiency.

At Lafia, Nasarawa Amazons wasted no time asserting authority, scoring twice within the opening 13 minutes against Osun Babes. Farikikyen Moses struck in the 2nd minute, followed swiftly by Ayowunmi Omosuyi, setting the tone for a controlled 2–0 win that reinforced the Amazons’ reputation as one of the league’s most disciplined sides.

Meanwhile in Abuja, Edo Queens delivered one of the standout performances of the weekend, brushing aside Naija Ratels 3–0. Goals from Atume Doosuur, Mary Mamudu, and Precious Oscar highlighted Edo Queens’ attacking depth and ability to punish lapses, especially in the second half.

One of the biggest talking points of Matchday Six came in Ozoro, where Bayelsa Queens defeated Rivers Angels 2–0. Goals from Janet Akekeromowei and Kindness Ifeanyi inside the first half gave Bayelsa early control and enough cushion to manage the game. The result not only boosted Bayelsa’s standing but also showed that even established giants are vulnerable this season.

In Owerri, Heartland Queens made full use of home advantage with a solid 2–0 win over Ibom Angels. First-half goals from Oluebube Umejiaku and Onyinyechi Kalu ensured Heartland stayed composed and defensively compact throughout the contest.

FC Robo Queens also continued their steady run with a 2–0 away victory over Abia Angels in Aba. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi struck early, setting the rhythm, while Tosin Rafiu sealed the result late on. The win further highlighted Robo Queens’ balance between early pressure and late-game control.

In Umuahia, Delta Queens left it late but secured a crucial 1–0 win over Ahudiyannem Queens, thanks to Charity Isaiah’s 77th-minute strike, a goal that could prove vital in the context of the season.

The only draw of the day came in Akure, where Sunshine Queens and Remo Stars Ladies played out an entertaining 1–1 stalemate. Similoluwa Okesiji gave Remo Stars the lead, but Misturat Olamilekan responded swiftly to restore parity, as both sides settled for a point.

Matchday Six reinforced several key narratives of the season:

Away wins are becoming more common, showing improved tactical maturity across teams.

Early goals continue to shape outcomes, as seen in Lafia and Aba.

Traditional powerhouses face real pressure, with Rivers Angels’ loss highlighting the league’s increasing balance.

As the NWFL Premiership progresses, Matchday Six will be remembered as a round where contenders stood tall, chasing packs gained belief, and the title race grew even more intriguing.
