“Danjuma: Finishing Is a Global Problem Holding Teams Back”

Nasarawa Amazons head coach, Christopher Danjuma, shared his thoughts after his team battled to a hard-fought 0–0 draw against Dannaz Ladies on Matchday Two of the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership season in Lagos.

Speaking after the encounter, the experienced tactician acknowledged the strength of the opponents while expressing satisfaction with his team’s overall performance, even though they failed to convert their scoring opportunities.

“Lagos has always been a wonderful place to come,” Danjuma said. “Even though we couldn’t pick all three points here today, this is a field that always favors us. We were not expecting anything less from Dannaz because scoring three goals in a match shows they’re a very good side. They’re forceful, composed and confident, so we came prepared.”

The Amazons created moments of danger but struggled to find the final touch. Danjuma admitted that converting chances has become a global challenge, not just a local one.

What we missed today was simply finishing,” he explained. “The league is still young and we are learning, and our attackers are improving. Finishing is a problem globally for many teams anywhere in the world. The only thing is to keep working and making sure the attackers become more clinical.”

Despite the goalless draw, the coach expressed optimism about the direction of his squad, especially with some new faces settling into the team this season.

New players have come into the team, and wherever we left off last year, we want to proceed and improve on that,” he added. “We have a plan to build stronger chemistry, improve decision-making in the final third, and push ourselves higher on the table.”

Nasarawa Amazons, former league champions and consistent top performers in the NWFL, have started the season with four points from two matches. Danjuma believes the team will only get better as the campaign progresses, with an emphasis on sharper attacking play and better execution in tight games.

With Matchday Three looming, the Lafia-based side will look to build on their resilient defensive display in Lagos and turn their offensive efforts into valuable goals as the season heats up.
